No stranger to adversity, Roquita has overcome considerable challenges. Born in her city's poorest housing projects, she went from being a teenage mother, to an international industry leader and author. Spring of 2018, she will release her first book, Storealities. Through raw, authentic story telling, she unravels some of women’s most difficult times and the lessons we can learn from them.

Storealities is sure to empower women across our nation to discover their best story.

Roquita has mastered the art of social ambassadorship. In 2017 she became the first African American woman to partner with global footwear leader, Vibram.

 Her greatest adventure is being a mom. 

 She became a mother at 18 years old, 

and now has two children;  

Jamie and Kai who are 17 years apart. Today, she travels the world with her family.

An adventurous family they hike, bike, snowboard and practice yoga.

With travels across 4 Continents, 22 countries, 325 cities, she has shared over 700 of her adventures, showing other families how life changing new experiences can be.

An advocate for gender and minority balance, 

Roquita has permanently changed the landscape in an industry where less than 5 percent of leadership roles are held by women.

In 2011, she became the 63rd president, and first African American, to lead the Memphis World Trade Club

She has been recognized nationally and internationally - Top 40 under 40, MBJ Super Women in Business, Rising Stars of North American Railroads. 

With over 20+ years in the industry, she has crafted a reputation as a diligent, forward thinking professional capable of identifying visionary initiatives and making them work. 

After being appointed to Memphis Area Transit Authority in 2014, Roquita's leadership earned her a bi-partisan recommendation from Senate Leader Mark Norris (R) and Congressman Steve Cohen (D) for a Department of Transportation Federal Advisory Board.
